鈥楶otted Panto鈥� returns to Bangor High Street.

Pontio and 麻豆AV鈥檚 Creative Industries department are pleased to announce the return of 鈥楶otted Panto鈥� to the Deiniol Shopping Centre, Bangor High Street, on Saturday 11 December to coincide with the City鈥檚 festive celebrations.

Last year, Theatre students from 麻豆AV took over a closed down shop window in the Deiniol Centre to perform a silent version of the classic pantomime story, Cinderella. The event proved such a success that students have been invited to perform again this Christmas. cast of 2009鈥檚 Panto

This year, 麻豆AV students will perform the story of Aladdin, all be it with a Christmas twist! When Aladdin loses his genie he holds auditions to find a suitable replacement, but will he find his perfect genie?

鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled to see the return of Potted Panto to the Bangor High Street鈥� said Dyfan Roberts, Pontio鈥檚 Arts Development Officer. 鈥淭his is what Pontio is all about, bringing events such as these into the heart of the city and allowing young actors the chance to showcase their talent. I hope this is a tradition that runs for many years鈥�

His view is echoed by Kathryn Cooke, a theatre student and performer in this year鈥檚 Potted Panto. 鈥淎fter last year鈥檚 success it's great to be back with the next generation of theatre students鈥� said Kathryn 鈥淚t's a good fun piece, full of Christmas cheer, and we hope the shoppers enjoy the new window display!鈥�

Kate Lawrence, a lecturer in the school of Creative Industries and Media who has been working with the students on the performance, added:

鈥淚 think it鈥檚 great that we鈥檙e able to make use of the vacant shops on the High Street for events such as this. I implore more people to make use of these facilities in an imaginative and creative way just like our Potted Panto.鈥�

This year鈥檚 Potted Panto will take place in the Deiniol Shopping Centre with the first performance starting at 2:00pm. Performances will then run on the hour and at half past the hour until 5:00pm
